Havana
Transport - In Havana as well as Cuba, it
has Latin America's most extensive system of roads.
For the easiest transportation renting a car is definitely
the way to go. Especially if you are going to be travelling
from Havana around the rest of the country this will
be cheaper for you in the long run. You want to remain
alert and follow all of the traffic signs. Be careful
and safe if this is the way you decide to get around
the area. Make sure that you follow the parking signs
also so that you can avoid getting a ticket.
If you are planning to stay inside Havana then you
will want to Travel by Train. The
Estanción Cristina handles all the train traffic
in the metropolitan area. Getting around on the train
is by the best way to see the city of Havana. It is
convenient and inexpensive and it stops frequently
at different places in the city. There is also a city
bus system called the Guaguas. The busses are not
a numerous as they used to be due to shortages of
fuel. This may not be the best means of transportation
inside the city of Havana.
For traveling outside Havana to other parts of Cuba
there is Cuba’s National Bus Service
is called Asociaciones de Transportes por
Omnibus (Astro) and it runs to all the capitals and
into all the outlying towns once or twice a day. Whichever
way you decide to travel around Havana we know you
will enjoy the sights and the people.
